MONUMENT VOLLEYBALL INAUGURAL DEVELOPMENT CAMP

July 15—19, 2019

Intermediate Program / Advanced Program / Campers in Training (CIT) Program

for ages 13-18

C.I.T ProgramThe Campers in Training program (CIT) will be run by a college coach. The purpose of the CIT program is to prepare players for college. This is a high-intensity program designed for experienced players focusing on execution of high-level plays. Players will run combination plays including slides, tandems, X's, crosses, and back-row hitting. A quality strength and conditioning program will be offered each day.

 

Skills Camp:  The Skills Camp is a one-week program for players who are preparing for the High School Volleyball season. The focus is on developing proper technique, visualizing and understanding the different aspects of the game. Players will learn ball control, proper hand placement, body position, and footwork. Players will learn and utilize the variations of defense and offensive formats during game play.  Each day players will participate in condition program.

 

Schedule: M-F

  • Morning 8:30-11:00 am
  • Conditioning 11-11:30 am
  • Lunch from 11:30-12:30 pm
  • Fun Games 12:30-1:00 pm
  • Afternoon 1:00-3:30 pm
  • Educational Sessions 3:30-4:00 pm

  • Friday Camp Tournament
  • Awards Ceremony. Parents are welcome to attend!

 

Early Start Program: The Early Start Program (ESP) is a one-week program designed for beginners ages 12 and under. Those older than 12, but brand new to the sport of volleyball and who feel this program will offer them the best opportunity at learning, are encouraged to contact the ESP director for guidance prior to picking a camp to attend. This camp is designed to ensure players learn basic skills (passing, setting, serving, and attacking). Players will be taught proper hand placement, footwork, and body positioning used for each basic skill. The skills will be taught, reinforced, and used during scrimmages and games.

 

Players will perform proper stretching techniques and participate in conditioning. We will also discuss basic game theory, i.e. court positions, rotation, numbering system, volleyball etiquette and sportsmanship. Above all, we will have lots of fun.

 

Schedule: M-F

  • Stretching and Warm-up 11-11:30 am
  • Skill Development 11:30 am -12:30 pm
  • Discussion period 12:30-1:00 pm
  • Skill Development 1:30-2:30 pm
  • Discussion period 2:30-3:00 pm
  • Skill Development 3:00-4:00 pm
  • Scrimmage game and certificate presentation, Friday at 2:30 pm. Parents are welcome to attend.

C.I.T Camp Coach:      Garvey Pierre

Monument Volleyball Club is pleased to feature Coach Garvey Pierre at Monuments Inaugural Summer Camp, CIT program.

Garvey just finished his first year as the volunteer assistant coach with the Hofstra Volleyball.  Pierre served as the head coach at Siena College from 2003-2017 and head coach at Mercy College from 1995-2003. 

Garvey’s successful stint at Siena saw the Saints win 227 matches during his time there and advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2014. Five student-athletes developed into MAAC Offensive Players of the Year under Garvey, the program received the NCAA Public Recognition Award three times. 

A four-time Conference Coach of the Year and two-time Region Coach of the Year at Mercy, Pierre won more than 75% of his matches during his eight seasons with the Mavericks.

Pierre is a graduate of Quebec University (BA) and Mercy (BS). He was a technical adviser for his native Haiti's men's national team, 1994 and an assistant coach for the Haitian women's national team, 1996, for the Norceca Games. Pierre also a participant in the 1992 Norceca Games.
